The Challenge: Complex Logistics in a Demanding Market
Selling food products online in Japan presents unique challenges: the need to manage dry and refrigerated shipments in the same order, the precise calculation of freight by weight and region, and selling products with variable weight like meat. The existing platform, although functional, needed to evolve to automate these complexities and offer a real competitive advantage.
The Solution: Irreplaceable Value and a Third Evolution
Our collaboration with MBM dates back to 2010. After a period where they explored other alternatives and faced difficulties, the need for a robust and custom solution reaffirmed our alliance. In 2022, we undertook the third major evolution of the system together, focusing on implementing engineering "gems" that solved their most critical problems and that generic platforms simply could not offer.

Instead of reinventing the wheel, we focused on building custom functionalities that offered real competitive value:
Smart Freight System
We developed an algorithm that calculates the exact shipping cost in real-time, differentiating between dry and refrigerated products, determining the quantity and type of boxes needed, and adjusting the price according to the destination prefecture.
Dynamic Pricing by Actual Weight
We implemented a system in the order panel that allows staff to adjust the final price of products like meat based on its exact weight. This functionality ensures fair and accurate billing, a feature of trust that not even large supermarkets offer.
Optimized Production Lists
To optimize order preparation, we created "Butcher Lists" and "Bakery Lists" generators. These group products from multiple orders onto a single worksheet, drastically reducing preparation time and errors.
